My Big Blue Table 2024 for Beyond Blue: A Night of Community and Mental Health Advocacy

Tonight, I had the privilege of hosting my Big Blue Table event at the Belmont Tavern, a gathering to raise money and awareness for Beyond Blue, a cause close to my heart. It was a fantastic evening filled with friends, family, and a strong sense of community, all united by the shared goal of supporting mental health initiatives.

I’m thrilled to share that we had a pretty good turnout! My mum, Lyn, was by my side, and she brought along her lovely friends Antonia and Karen. It was really special to have them there, showing their support for such an important cause. A couple of my workmates, Andre and Andrew, also attended, which meant a lot to me. My support worker, Nathan, made time to come, and my cousin Jacqui joined the fun as well. Having such a diverse group of people from different parts of my life all in one place really made the night extra special.

The event itself went smoothly, with everyone enjoying the atmosphere at Belmont Tavern. There was a lot of laughter, great conversations, and an overwhelming sense of positivity. Together, we managed to raise $130 on the night! I'm genuinely proud of that number, but it doesn’t stop there. Throughout the month of October, I’ve also received additional donations from generous people who believe in supporting mental health awareness, and every dollar counts.

Beyond Blue is an incredible organization that offers help to so many Australians struggling with mental health issues, and it's amazing to see how many people care enough to donate and support their mission. The funds raised through the Big Blue Table events like mine go directly to helping individuals and families access the support they need, ensuring that no one has to face their struggles alone.

As an advocate for mental health myself, it’s deeply rewarding to be able to contribute in this way. Mental health is something we all need to talk about more openly, and events like these create those opportunities for conversation. I’m so grateful to everyone who came out tonight and to those who have donated throughout the month. Together, we are making a difference.

If you're considering hosting your own Big Blue Table, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a fun, fulfilling way to bring people together for a cause that really matters. Plus, it’s a great reminder that when we come together, even small gatherings can make a big impact.

Thank you to everyone who supported this event, and here’s to many more successful fundraisers for Beyond Blue! Let’s continue to raise awareness and support for mental health, one conversation and one donation at a time.
