Coffee with Luke: A Morning with 7 News Queensland at Zarraffa’s Mount Gravatt

Today was a truly memorable day in the Coffee with Luke journey. I had the absolute privilege of attending the 7 News Queensland Community Coffee Morning at Zarraffa’s Coffee, Mount Gravatt, where I shared a cuppa with some of the most recognisable and respected faces from the 7 News team, along with an incredible mix of professionals and community leaders. This event was more than just a meet-and-greet—it was a real celebration of Queenslanders making a difference.

🌟 Meeting the 7 News Queensland Team

As soon as I walked into Zarraffa’s, the energy was buzzing. There was something special about seeing familiar faces from my TV screen right there in person—warm, genuine, and deeply connected to our local community. I had the honour of meeting:

  • Max Futcher – Calm, collected, and just as charismatic in person as he is on the news desk.

  • Katrina Blowers – A true professional with a kind and welcoming energy. She took the time to chat and made everyone feel valued.

  • Samantha Heathwood – Friendly and radiant, she brought such a positive presence to the event.

  • Steve Titmus – Full of stories and warmth, Steve was engaging and genuinely interested in hearing from community members.

  • Anna McGraw – The 7 News reporter for the event, Anna was everywhere at once—interviewing people, capturing moments, and radiating professionalism and curiosity.

Their presence wasn’t just symbolic—they were there to truly listen. They spoke to locals about what’s happening in our neighbourhoods, what matters to us, and how 7 News can continue to be a voice for the Queensland community.

💼 Inspiring Locals Doing Incredible Work

One of the highlights of the morning was meeting professionals from all walks of life, each doing something unique for the Mount Gravatt area and beyond. I was lucky enough to chat with several of them, and their stories really stuck with me.

  • Vanessa Scirotino, Director of Quartz Legal QLD, stood out as someone passionate about helping people navigate the legal world with clarity and compassion. She even gave me a lovely lip balm and her business card, which was such a thoughtful gesture.

  • From Allsports Physiotherapy Mount Gravatt, I met two talented professionals:

    • Tom Baier, a physiotherapist with a welcoming and knowledgeable approach.

    • Sean McCoola, a senior physiotherapist whose experience was evident in the way he connected with people around him.

  • I also met Nikala and some of her team from TH7 Mount Gravatt, who are clearly passionate about health, fitness, and wellbeing. Their energy was infectious and they were great to talk to.

  • One of the more interesting people I met was Dr. Mitch Robinson, also known as the Skin Man. He runs skin education initiatives and helps people understand how to look after their skin—something so important in our Queensland sun. His passion for education and prevention was inspiring.

☕️ Shoutout to Zarraffa’s Coffee Mount Gravatt

No Coffee with Luke entry would be complete without showing appreciation to the hardworking staff behind the counter. The team at Zarraffa’s Mount Gravatt absolutely nailed it today. They served up countless coffees with a smile, helped host the event flawlessly, and created a warm, welcoming space for this community celebration.

🧡 Community Matters

Events like this remind me just how special our Queensland community really is. It’s not just about the big names or the big stories—it’s about the everyday people, doing extraordinary things. Whether it’s legal advice, physiotherapy, skincare education, or simply making a great flat white, we all have a part to play in building something great.

And seeing the 7 News Queensland team actively engaging with locals just proves how committed they are to being part of that mission.

☀️ Final Thoughts

Today was a true Coffee with Luke moment—filled with connection, conversation, and community spirit. I walked away feeling proud to be part of such a vibrant network of people who care, contribute, and collaborate.

To everyone I met today—thank you for your time, your kindness, and your dedication. And of course, thank you to 7 News Queensland for creating this opportunity for all of us to come together.

Until next brew,
Luke ☕️
