Coffee with Luke ☕️ – A Shelf Full of Stories

There’s something comforting about sitting in my new home office with a hot coffee in hand, surrounded by the quiet hum of the day. The sunlight filters gently through the window, casting a soft glow over my bookshelf — a curated collection of stories, memories, and people who’ve shaped and inspired me in one way or another.

As I sip my coffee, I find myself smiling at the memoirs that line the shelf. Each spine holds a voice, a journey. There’s Jules Robinson, whose strength and style shine through every page. Jacqui Lambie, a powerhouse of honesty and grit, reminding me that being real and standing up for what matters is always worth it. I see Anthony Field, the original Blue Wiggle, whose music and energy were part of my childhood soundtrack. Then there's Harry Garside — boxer, ballet dancer, and mental health advocate — a bold reminder that we’re all complex and that courage comes in many forms.

A few shelves over, Bree Tomasel catches my eye — someone whose humor and heart brighten up the airwaves. And of course, Julie Smith, the psychologist who’s helped so many make sense of the mind and emotions. Their stories remind me that we all face struggles, but we also all have the potential to rise, evolve, and help others along the way.

Below the memoirs sit my treasured cookbooks — a whole other kind of inspiration. There’s something so grounding about cooking; it brings people together, stirs up memories, and connects us to cultures and creativity.

Jamie Oliver and Maggie Beer — absolute legends whose passion for good, honest food is infectious. Poh Ling Yeow’s vibrant, artful dishes always make me feel like I’m watching magic unfold. Marion Grasby and her mother Noi Paew Grasby are staples in my collection — their Thai recipes are a burst of flavour and family. And of course, Julie Goodwin, the original MasterChef winner, whose warmth and simplicity in cooking makes everyone feel like they can do it too.

One of the newest additions is Amelia Jaxson, whose take on modern cooking is full of soul and creativity — a real gem I’m excited to explore more of.

As I sit here, I realise this bookshelf is more than just paper and pages — it’s a snapshot of who I am. A blend of my passions: storytelling, food, mental health, and people who inspire me to be the best version of myself.

Today, I'm not writing anything earth-shattering. I'm just pausing to appreciate the space I’ve created — a little sanctuary of stories, flavours, and reflections. My coffee is nearly gone, but my gratitude is full.

Until next time,
Luke ☕️
