Coffee with Luke: Holiday Getaway – Day 1 🌴
Tuesday: A Fresh Start by the Sea
Today was the perfect way to kick off my five-day holiday, and it all started with a busy morning that turned into a beautiful, relaxing afternoon and evening.
The morning began with a psychiatrist appointment—an important check-in to look after my mental well-being. These sessions are part of my regular routine, and even though they can sometimes be a little emotionally tiring, I always feel better afterwards knowing I'm doing something positive for my health.
After that, I treated myself to a fresh haircut. There’s just something so good about walking out of the hairdresser with a clean, neat cut – like pressing a reset button. It made me feel sharp and ready for the days ahead.
Then, it was time to head down to Tugun, where my cousin Jacqui has a lovely little holiday spot that she generously offered for us to stay in. It’s such a peaceful part of the coast – close to everything but far enough away that you feel like you’re truly on holiday. As soon as we arrived, the holiday mode kicked in. 🌞
Once we got settled in, Jacqui gave us a personal tour of the area. She’s always full of energy and knows all the hidden gems around the Gold Coast. We explored some gorgeous spots – from beaches to little scenic corners of town. It was the perfect welcome.
To thank her for being such a great host, we took Jacqui out for lunch. We found a nice local place and sat together enjoying good food, laughs, and conversation. Spending time with her always feels like home – she’s more like a best friend than just family.
Later in the afternoon, we returned to the holiday unit and had a bit of downtime to relax. I laid back, soaked in the fresh sea breeze, and just enjoyed not having to rush anywhere or do anything. Sometimes, the quiet moments are the best part of a holiday.
But the day didn’t end there! That evening we got dressed up and went out for dinner at a beautiful Italian restaurant in Coolangatta. The food was absolutely delicious – think handmade pasta, garlic bread, and rich, warm sauces that just melted in your mouth. The atmosphere was cozy and full of energy, and the staff made us feel so welcome. It was the perfect end to a perfect first day.
All in all, Day 1 was a beautiful mix of self-care, family, good food, and great company. I’m feeling refreshed, grateful, and excited for what the next four days will bring. Stay tuned for more holiday stories – there’s lots more to come!
Until next time,
Luke 🌊🍝✂️
