Coffee with Luke: Holiday Getaway – Day 2 🐨🌮
Wednesday: Wildlife, Tacos & Tech Trouble
Day two of my holiday was packed from start to finish – full of incredible wildlife experiences, mouth-watering food, and… a not-so-fun surprise to finish the day. But let’s start from the top.
We began the day with a visit to David Fleay Wildlife Park. It was a nice, peaceful place to start the morning. The park has a strong focus on conservation and looking after endangered species. While it wasn’t the biggest or most exciting park I’ve been to, it was still worth the stop. We got to see a few interesting animals and read about some of the important work they’re doing there to protect native wildlife. A calm and educational start to the day.
After that, it was time to refuel – taco time! 🌮 We stopped at this amazing little taco spot in Palm Beach called Goster Tacos – and oh my god… DELICIOUS! Every bite was bursting with flavour. The meat was juicy, the salsa had just the right amount of kick, and the tacos were fresh and packed full. If you’re ever in Palm Beach, do yourself a favour and go to Goster. 10/10 from me!
Then came the main event of the day – we headed to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. And wow… it was huge! From the moment we walked in, it felt like an adventure waiting to happen. There were animals everywhere – kangaroos, koalas, crocodiles, birds flying all around. It was honestly one of the best wildlife experiences I’ve ever had.
There was so much to see, so much to learn, and so much to love. You could easily spend the whole day walking around that place and still not see everything. The atmosphere was amazing – full of families, tourists, animal lovers – and the animals looked so well cared for. It really was a highlight of the whole trip.
After the sanctuary, we were all pretty tired from walking around, so we grabbed a quick and tasty dinner. I went with Zambrero’s, one of my go-to’s when I want something quick, fresh, and filling. It hit the spot perfectly after such a big day.
But just when I thought the day was winding down, I hit a snag… 💳
I got a notification from BOQ (Bank of Queensland) saying there was some suspicious activity on my card. Turns out – my card had been hacked. A scammer was trying to take money from my account! Thankfully, the bank caught it and put a lock on my card through the app.
I rang them straight away to find out more, and they told me I’d need to get my phone cleaned out just to be safe – like a full reset or scan to make sure no dodgy software had gotten through. Unfortunately, all the banks and tech shops were closed by then, so I couldn’t get much done that night.
A bit of a stressful way to end the day, but I’m glad the bank was onto it quickly. Hopefully, we’ll get it sorted tomorrow.
So all in all, Day 2 had its ups and downs, but the amazing food, animal adventures, and time with my cousin made it another day to remember. Holidays don’t always go perfectly – but it’s all part of the experience!
Stay tuned for Day 3 – hoping for smooth sailing (and no more scammers!).
Until next time,
Luke 🐊🦘📵
