Finding Joy in the Everyday: A Blog by Luke Ransley

Life has a funny way of reminding us that the best moments aren’t always the big ones. Sometimes it’s the little things — the coffee that warms your hands on a cool Brisbane morning, the chat with someone who genuinely listens, or the simple feeling of knowing you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. Over the last few weeks, I’ve really learned to slow down and appreciate these moments.

Every day brings something different. Some days are busy with appointments — physio with George, psychology with Jodi, or a session with Jack on a Wednesday that somehow turns six hours into something that feels like twenty minutes. Other days are quiet, the kind where you get to breathe, reset, and remind yourself of how far you’ve come.

One thing I’ve realised is this:
“Healing isn’t a straight line — it’s a journey made up of tiny steps, small wins, and the people who stand beside you along the way.”

Whether it’s a good session where everything makes sense or a tough one where your emotions feel heavy, every moment becomes part of the story. And in my story, support workers, physios, friends, and family play a pretty big role.

I’ve been thinking lately about how much connection matters. When someone gives you their time and attention, it makes the world feel a little lighter. Like when I grab a coffee with someone and the conversation flows, or when a support worker takes the time to explain something properly instead of rushing through it. That feeling — of being understood — is powerful.

And honestly, I’m proud of the work I’ve been doing. Proud of the changes I’ve made. Proud of the courage it takes to show up to each appointment even when I’m tired or stressed. Proud that I’m building a life that actually feels like mine.

There’s a quote that has stuck with me all year:
“You don’t have to be perfect to be proud of yourself. You just have to be trying.”

Trying — that’s the key. Not giving up. Not hiding. Not pretending everything’s fine when it isn’t. But showing up anyway. And I think that’s something worth celebrating.

As I look ahead, I’m excited. Excited for new sessions, new adventures, new memories. Excited for the blogs I’ll write, the coffees I’ll drink, the photos I’ll take, and the people I’ll meet along the way.

Every day is another chance to live a little more boldly, to feel a little more grateful, and to love a little harder. And if I’ve learned one thing recently, it’s this: life gets better when you let the right people in.

So here’s to growth.
Here’s to the quiet days and the loud ones.
Here’s to early mornings, long drives, good conversations, and support that actually makes a difference.
And here’s to all of us — still trying, still learning, still moving forward.

Because at the end of the day, no matter what you’re going through, remember this:
“Your story is still being written… and the best chapters haven’t even happened yet.”
