A Beautiful Day on the River: My Bulimba Ferry Terminal Experience

There’s something truly special about Brisbane when you experience it from the water, and my recent trip from Bulimba Ferry Terminal was nothing short of amazing. I shared this journey with my mum, and from the very beginning it felt calm, welcoming, and full of those little moments that make a day memorable.

The Start of the Journey

Bulimba Ferry Terminal itself is a fantastic place to begin an adventure. Sitting right on the Brisbane River, the terminal has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. You can hear the water gently moving, see the city skyline in the distance, and feel that sense of excitement as the ferry approaches. It’s clean, well laid out, and easy to access—perfect whether you’re a local or visiting Brisbane for the first time.

Friendly Faces on Board

Once we boarded, the experience was made even better by the incredible crew. Noah and Ashley were the crew members on duty at the time, and they were absolutely lovely. They were friendly, patient, and incredibly helpful, especially when it came to assisting passengers and making clear announcements. You could really tell they cared about everyone having a smooth and enjoyable trip.

The captain—whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch—also deserves a big mention. He did a fantastic job driving the ferry and working alongside the crew to ensure all stops were announced clearly and every touch-off and departure went smoothly. Together, they created a calm and professional environment that made the trip feel safe and enjoyable from start to finish.

Cruising the River

As the ferry pulled away from Bulimba, the views were stunning. Cruising along the river gives you a completely different perspective of Brisbane—lush riverbanks, beautiful homes, and the gentle rhythm of life along the water. We travelled up toward St Lucia and then back toward Hamilton Reach, and every part of the journey felt relaxing and scenic.

Sitting with my mum, watching the river roll by, was one of those simple but special moments. No rush, no stress—just enjoying the ride and the view.

Highly Recommended for Locals and Visitors

If you’re visiting Brisbane on a holiday, or even if you live here and want to enjoy the city in a different way, I can’t recommend this ferry trip enough. A ride from Bulimba up to St Lucia and back to Hamilton is a beautiful way to spend some time, soak in the scenery, and appreciate how special Brisbane really is.

This trip reminded me how much joy there is in slowing down and enjoying the journey. With a great terminal, stunning river views, and such friendly and professional staff, the Bulimba Ferry Terminal experience truly deserves praise. I’d happily do it all over again—and I’m sure anyone who takes this trip would enjoy it just as much as we did. 🌊🚢
