Coffee with Luke – A Week of Changes and Reflections

Hey everyone, I hope you’re all doing well. Life has been full-on lately, with a lot happening all at once. I wanted to take some time to reflect and share what’s been going on in my world. While I won’t go into every personal detail, I still want to express as much as I can.

Mum is Home – A Sense of Comfort

One of the biggest highlights of my week has been having Mum home with me. It’s such a comforting feeling to have her around. Sometimes, just knowing that a loved one is close by can make all the difference. Life can get hectic, and having that support system at home is something I’m really grateful for. It just makes things feel a little easier, even on the tough days.

Psychologist Session – Opening Up and Social Connection

Last week, I had my usual psychologist appointment, and this time, I was able to open up more than I have in recent sessions. There’s been a lot on my mind lately—stress, changes, and just the everyday challenges of life. Talking about it wasn’t easy, but it felt good to be able to share some of my thoughts.

My psychologist suggested that I spend more time with people who bring me positivity, like my cousin Jacqui or my friend Mandy. He thinks that more social interaction could help me process things in a different way. Sometimes, just spending time with people who truly get you can help put things into perspective. So, I’m going to try and make an effort to do that. It’s funny how we sometimes forget the power of simple things, like a conversation over coffee or a walk with a friend.

Seeing a New Physiotherapist – A New Experience

Tuesday was a big day for me because I saw a new physiotherapist, Travis Masters, at QSMC. Initially, my goal was to see an exercise physiologist to help improve my movement, strength, and overall physical health. However, I found out that before I could do that, I needed to go through a physiotherapy assessment first.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but Travis was really friendly, professional, and easy to talk to. He took the time to get to know me, my medical history, and my current concerns. I really appreciated that because when you’re dealing with chronic pain or ongoing physical issues, it makes a huge difference when a professional genuinely listens to you.

After the session, I could feel a noticeable improvement in my back. There was less tension, and I felt more at ease, which was a relief. Travis recommended that I continue seeing him for physiotherapy while also starting my sessions with an exercise physiologist to focus on long-term strength and movement.

The New Plan – Multiple Physiotherapy & Exercise Physiology Sessions

So, based on the recommendations, I now have the following plan in place:
✔️ Continuing with my regular physiotherapist, George Campbell – He’s been treating me for a while now, and I trust him with my ongoing care.
✔️ Seeing Travis Masters at QSMC for additional physiotherapy – Since he’s helped with my back already, I want to keep seeing him to maintain that progress.
✔️ Starting exercise physiology sessions – My first appointment is with Monique Taylor, followed by another session with Eddie Hess. These will focus on improving my overall movement, strength, and flexibility.

A Question for You – Is It Okay to See Two Physiotherapists?

This brings me to something I’ve been wondering about. What are your thoughts on seeing two physiotherapists at the same time?

I tried to Google it, but I couldn’t find much—just a few scattered discussions on Reddit. Some people seem to think it’s fine as long as both physiotherapists are aware of what’s happening and working towards the same goal. Others suggest it could be confusing or even counterproductive.

Personally, I feel like each physiotherapist brings something different to the table, and I don’t see any harm in getting a mix of treatments. But I’d love to hear from you! Have you or someone you know ever seen multiple physiotherapists at once? Did it help?

Final Thoughts – Moving Forward with an Open Mind

This past week has been a mix of emotions—feeling supported by my family, working through things in therapy, and making changes to improve my physical health. It’s been a lot to process, but I feel like I’m heading in the right direction.

I really appreciate everyone who reads these updates and takes the time to engage with my thoughts. Your support means a lot, and I’d love to hear what you think about my physiotherapy plan or anything else that stood out to you in this update.

Thanks for being part of my journey. Until next time, take care!
