Coffee with Luke Series: Getting Back on Track with Physio Travis Masters (QSMC)

Welcome back to Coffee with Luke! Today’s chat is one I’ve been really excited to share. It’s not about coffee beans or café vibes this time—it’s about movement, healing, and one of the key people helping me live a better, more mobile life: Travis Masters, my physiotherapist at the Queensland Sports Medicine Centre (QSMC).

🧠 Why Physio Matters to Me

Living with physical challenges like arthritis in my spine (T12), shoulder and neck issues, and plantar fasciitis means my body often needs a bit of extra support. Physiotherapy has become an important part of my weekly routine—not just to relieve pain, but to keep me moving, functioning, and feeling my best.

That’s where Travis comes in.

🧑‍⚕️ Who Is Travis Masters?

Travis is one of those rare professionals who truly listens. From the moment I stepped into his room at QSMC Woolloongabba, I felt understood—not just as a patient, but as a whole person. He took the time to learn about my diagnoses, my lifestyle, and how my body reacts to stress and tension.

What sets Travis apart is how individualised his approach is. He doesn’t use a one-size-fits-all program. Instead, he creates tailored treatment plans designed around what I need—whether it's manual therapy, dry needling, strength work, or mobility drills. Every session is about empowering me to better understand and manage my body.

🏃 What Our Sessions Look Like

Each session with Travis is a blend of physical rehab and education. He explains what’s going on in clear, simple terms—no confusing medical jargon. It’s not just about exercises; it’s about learning why those exercises help.

Some sessions are focused on relieving tightness in my shoulders and neck. Others target posture, balance, or long-term strength-building. Travis is always checking in with how I’m feeling—not just physically, but mentally too. That holistic care means a lot.

🙌 Trust, Teamwork, and Progress

Trust is a huge part of my healthcare journey, and I’ve built that trust with Travis. I feel confident that he knows what he’s doing—and more importantly, that he genuinely cares about my progress.

He also collaborates closely with my wider support team, including my GP Dr. Julie Hall, my psychologist Jodi Ord, and my other physio, George Campbell. That kind of team approach gives me reassurance that everyone’s on the same page and working toward the same goals: a healthier, happier me.

💬 Final Sip

If you’re dealing with pain, mobility issues, or just want to move better, I can’t recommend seeing someone like Travis Masters at QSMC enough. He’s not just a physio—he’s a partner in your journey toward better movement and well-being.

Thanks for sharing a coffee break with me. Stay strong, stay curious, and keep moving forward. ☕💪
