Coffee with Luke: Bluey & Bunnings Warehouse Excitement

Image
Hey everyone, welcome back to another episode of  Coffee with Luke ! Today’s topic is something a little bit fun and very exciting –  Bunnings Warehouse  and, of course,  Bluey . So, if you’ve been following along, you’ll know that last year (2024), Bunnings released some awesome Bluey-themed products a couple of times throughout the year. I managed to get my hands on a few, but I also missed out on some because they sold out so quickly. It was pretty disappointing at the time because I really wanted the full collection, but you know how it goes – blink, and they’re gone! But guess what? Today, Bunnings brought them back out again, and you better believe I made sure I was there  bright and early . I wasn’t going to let these slip through my fingers a second time. It was such a buzz walking through those big green doors first thing in the morning, knowing I was on a mission. I managed to grab the Bluey items I had missed out on last year – that was such a relief!...

Coffee with Luke: Real Estate Agent Hunt – A Bus Stop Safari

Image
The First 3 Faces in the Real Estate Billboard Jungle Hi legends and loyal readers of Coffee with Luke! If you live in Brisbane, chances are you've walked past a bus stop and found yourself greeted by a smiling, suit-clad local real estate agent. Their faces are everywhere—beaming with confidence, posing like property-selling superheroes, and promising to make your dreams come true (or at least help you find a 3-bed, 2-bath with a carport). So I’ve decided to turn it into a fun little  real estate safari . Every time I spot one of these bold billboards, I snap a photo and rate each agent with some quirky categories that you won't find on any real estate awards night... but you will here! Let’s meet our  first three billboard champions , shall we? 🏡 Agent #1:  Nyree Ewings  – LJ Hooker Nyree’s poster just screams confidence and elegance. You can tell this isn’t her first bus stop. The beige and white outfit is giving “I just sold your neighbour’s house before you eve...

Coffee with Luke: Real Estate Agent Hunt – A Bus Stop Safari!

Hi friends, and welcome back to another Coffee with Luke! Over the next couple of months, I’ve decided to take on a new, quirky, and totally local activity that’s part photography project, part social experiment, and part community exploration… and it all started with my morning coffee and a walk down the street. Lately, I’ve been noticing something that I can’t unsee now — real estate agents are everywhere. I don’t mean in the office or just on signs outside houses for sale. I mean in our bus shelters, on billboards, on the backs of benches, even popping up next to café menus and supermarket entrances — smiling faces, slick suits, and some VERY enthusiastic headshots. So, I thought… why not turn this into something fun? 🎯 The Mission: Over the next couple of months, I’ll be doing what I now call my “Real Estate Agent Hunt.” My goal is to walk, bus, or drive around my area and collect as many different real estate advertising photos as I can find. I’m talking about the ones displ...

The Mushroom Killer — A Chilling Tale of Death, Deception, and Justice

Australia has seen its fair share of mysteries, but few have captured the public’s imagination — and horror — quite like the  Leongatha Mushroom Murders . It began with a simple lunch in a quiet Victorian town, but ended with  three dead ,  one barely surviving , and a woman dubbed the  “Mushroom Killer”  at the centre of one of the country’s most disturbing modern crimes. This is the full story of  Erin Patterson  — the woman, the mystery, the trial, and the legacy of the most infamous mushroom meal in Australian history. 🍽️ July 29, 2023 – The Deadly Lunch On an ordinary Saturday in  Leongatha , a small town in South Gippsland,  Erin Patterson , 48, invited her former in-laws over for lunch. The guests included: Gail and Don Patterson  – Erin’s ex-husband’s parents Heather and Ian Wilkinson  – Gail’s sister and brother-in-law Erin served them a homemade  beef Wellington  — a luxurious dish that contains mushrooms wrappe...

Coffee with Luke: Holiday Getaway – Day 4 🎢🐧🍟

Image
Friday: SeaWorld Spectacular, Snacks, and Surf Wow— what an action-packed Day 4  of the holiday! This one was all about adventure, entertainment, and soaking in some of the best things the Gold Coast has to offer. Buckle up, because this was a big day. We started off at none other than  SeaWorld . From the moment we arrived, there was excitement in the air. The weather was great, the crowd wasn’t too heavy, and the vibe was perfect for a full day of exploring. One of the first things we saw was the  Thunder Lake Stunt Show , and oh my god—it was  amazing . Fast boats, water skiers, stunts, flips, jumps—you name it, they did it. The talent and coordination of the stunt team were absolutely next level. It had us on the edge of our seats. 🔥💦 After the show, we wandered around the park and explored everything SeaWorld had to offer. We saw the  penguins waddling around , the  majestic dolphins playing ,  sharks swimming silently , and even the  power...

Coffee with Luke: Holiday Getaway – Day 3 📱🌮🏦

Thursday: Tech Troubles, Taco Triumphs & Top-Notch Service Day three of the holiday was all about  getting things sorted  – but even with a bit of stress, there were plenty of good people, great food, and lovely moments that made it a really positive day in the end. The day started with a mission:  get my BOQ card unlocked  after it had been locked down due to a scammer trying to steal from my account the night before. So we headed to the  Bank of Queensland  to see what could be done. The staff told me they couldn’t unlock it just yet – they needed proof that my phone had been fully cleaned out before taking any more steps. Fair enough… time to get that sorted. So we headed to  Telstra at The Pines , hoping they could help. Unfortunately, the experience there wasn’t great. The staff member I spoke to wasn’t very helpful – she said if she reset my phone, I’d lose all my data unless I manually put everything back from a backup. She didn’t really exp...

Coffee with Luke: Holiday Getaway – Day 2 🐨🌮

Wednesday: Wildlife, Tacos & Tech Trouble Day two of my holiday was packed from start to finish – full of incredible wildlife experiences, mouth-watering food, and… a not-so-fun surprise to finish the day. But let’s start from the top. We began the day with a visit to  David Fleay Wildlife Park . It was a nice, peaceful place to start the morning. The park has a strong focus on conservation and looking after endangered species. While it wasn’t the biggest or most exciting park I’ve been to, it was still worth the stop. We got to see a few interesting animals and read about some of the important work they’re doing there to protect native wildlife. A calm and educational start to the day. After that, it was time to  refuel – taco time! 🌮  We stopped at this amazing little taco spot in Palm Beach called  Goster Tacos  – and oh my god…  DELICIOUS!  Every bite was bursting with flavour. The meat was juicy, the salsa had just the right amount of kick, a...

Coffee with Luke: Holiday Getaway – Day 1 🌴

Tuesday: A Fresh Start by the Sea Today was the perfect way to kick off my five-day holiday, and it all started with a busy morning that turned into a beautiful, relaxing afternoon and evening. The morning began with a  psychiatrist appointment —an important check-in to look after my mental well-being. These sessions are part of my regular routine, and even though they can sometimes be a little emotionally tiring, I always feel better afterwards knowing I'm doing something positive for my health. After that, I treated myself to a  fresh haircut . There’s just something so good about walking out of the hairdresser with a clean, neat cut – like pressing a reset button. It made me feel sharp and ready for the days ahead. Then, it was time to  head down to Tugun , where my cousin  Jacqui  has a lovely little holiday spot that she generously offered for us to stay in. It’s such a peaceful part of the coast – close to everything but far enough away that you feel like ...
